LOOK INSIDE

The Madison Museum of Contemporary Art held an exhibit titled “Design MMOCA” where design studios were given the challenge to reinterpret a piece of art as an interactive space. After many ideas were floated around I came up with the idea of creating a floating sphere of gradient color that people could walk through and experience the changing gradients as they looked through the exhibit. Then I had to figure our how to make it a reality…

CONCEPTUAL THINKING | PROBLEM SOLVING | ROPE WRANGLING

Created with Cricket Design Works.

The artwork that inspired us.

I’m sure there is some sort of mathematical formula that would have given me all the measurements I needed… I just used lines and dots…

Once I figured out how much paint went on each rope, it was a matter of measuring, taping off, and painting ropes on repeat forever and ever…

…and it worked!

After the MMOCA exhibit we were able to repurpose the ropes by installing them as a rainbow tunnel at a different exhibit.

And now they have a forever home – lining the wall of the Cricket Design Works conference room, which has been a great background for numerous zoom calls.
